About the Role

Didsbury Preschool is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Early Childhood Educator to join our team. As a Permanent Part-Time Educator, you will prepare and deliver engaging preschool programming for children aged 3-5 years old. This position is a contract role running from August 2025 to June 2026, with the opportunity for renewal upon re-evaluation.

About Us:
Established in 1978, Didsbury Preschool is a not-for-profit, board-run program driven by the passion of our parents and teachers. Located in its own dedicated facility, the preschool boasts a wide range of educational tools, art supplies, and outdoor play structures. Our programming includes music classes, gym days, art activities, and local field trips, with parent volunteers playing an integral role in classroom and trip activities.

Class Schedule:

  • Monday & Wednesday: 8:45 AM – 11:15 AM, 12:30 PM – 3:00 PM
  • Tuesday & Thursday: 8:45 AM – 11:15 AM
    Additional hours are allocated for class preparation, administrative tasks, and minor maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement age-appropriate, engaging educational programming.
  • Foster the physical, social, and emotional development of preschool-aged children.
  • Ensure compliance with Alberta Licensing Guidelines and FOIP regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, the board of directors, and other stakeholders.
  • Perform light administrative tasks and assist in preschool operations as needed.

Qualifications:
Candidates must have:

  • Child Development Worker Certificate (Level 2) or higher.
    • Candidates with a Child Development Assistant Certificate (Level 1) and relevant experience may be considered, provided they are working toward a Level 2 certification.
  • Current First Aid - CPR - AED certification (including child-specific first aid).
  • A vulnerable sector check (clearance required).
  • The ability to independently plan and execute a preschool curriculum.

Preferred Experience:

  • Knowledge of kindergarten readiness and early childhood development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with Alberta licensing guidelines and practices.

Compensation:

  • Hourly wage based on experience and certification level.
  • Alberta Child Care Wage Top-Up Grant provided in addition to base wage.
  • Support for professional development and certification advancement.
