About the Role

You like knowing that when someone in town turns on the tap, the water is safe to drink—and when they flush, everything goes where it should. As Operator 2 – Utilities, you’re part of the crew that keeps that promise every day.

 

What you’ll do

•Test and sample water and wastewater to meet provincial standards.

•Maintain and repair water, wastewater, and storm infrastructure.

•Perform preventative maintenance on pump and lift stations and related equipment.

•Operate equipment like loaders, skid steers, backhoes, tandem trucks, and hydrovac/flushing units.

•Complete underground locates, inspections, and meter installs/repairs.

•Work directly with residents and coworkers to solve issues calmly and professionally.

 

What you bring

•Around 3 years’ experience with water/wastewater systems, ideally in a municipal or utility setting.

•Experience with underground infrastructure maintenance and emergency repairs.

•Comfort operating construction/utility equipment and working outdoors in all weather.

•High School Diploma (or equivalent), Intermediate First Aid & CPR/AED Level C (BL), and Class 3 Driver’s Licence with Air.

•Level 2 Alberta Environment and Parks Certification in Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection (or clearly working toward it).

•Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

 

Pay, schedule & benefits

•$33.94 – $38.39 per hour, based on a 40-hour work week.

•Standard hours 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday–Friday, plus some evening, night, weekend, and rotational stand-by shifts (30-minute response time).
