About the Role

Do you enjoy being the person people can count on for a helpful answer?

Are you comfortable balancing customer service, payments, registrations, and a busy front desk?

Do you like work where every shift is a little different and you get to interact with people throughout the day?

The Town of Olds is looking for Casual Customer Service Attendants to join the team at the Olds Aquatic Centre. This is an on-site, public-facing role where you'll help guests get the information, programs, and services they need while supporting the day-to-day operation of the Aquatic Centre.

What you'll do

You'll be one of the first people guests meet when they arrive at the Aquatic Centre. You'll answer questions, process admissions and registrations, handle payments, and help people find the programs or information they need.

During a typical shift, you may:

  • Welcome guests and help them with admissions, registrations, reservations, and general questions.
  • Answer phone calls and respond to customer inquiries.
  • Open, close, reconcile, and balance the till, process payments, and assist with deposits.
  • Help guests learn about aquatic programs, services, and upcoming events that may meet their needs.
  • Monitor admissions and activity in public areas, respond to guest concerns, and involve a Team Lead or Supervisor when a situation requires additional support.
  • Maintain accurate registrations and records and prepare routine statistics or reports for Aquatic Team Leads and the Supervisor.
  • Monitor supplies and equipment and let the appropriate team member know when items need attention or replenishment.
  • Support Aquatic Team Leads, the Supervisor, and lifeguards with day-to-day operations.
  • Monitor the lobby, viewing area, washrooms, and corridors and complete cleaning or light custodial duties when needed.
  • Assist with emergency procedures and provide First Aid, CPR, or resuscitation when required and within your training.

This isn't a role where you'll spend the whole shift sitting behind a counter. You'll move between helping guests, completing administrative work, keeping public areas organized, and responding to what is happening in the facility throughout your shift.

What we're looking for

You don't need to know every system or process on your first day. We're looking for someone who enjoys helping people, can keep details organized, and is willing to learn new processes and systems.

Your experience may be a good fit if you:

  • Have experience helping customers, guests, community members, or others with questions and service needs.
  • Have communicated clearly and respectfully with customers, members of the public, teammates, or coworkers.
  • Have kept work organized while balancing multiple tasks, questions, or interruptions.
  • Have used computers for everyday work and are comfortable learning new software. You'll learn to use recreation registration software, including Univerus Sport & Recreation.
  • Have handled situations where you needed to solve a problem independently or recognize when to ask a supervisor for support.

To work in this position, you must be at least 15 years old.

What to expect at work

The Aquatic Centre is a busy public environment. Some shifts will be steady, with guests arriving for programs and public swims while phones are ringing and registrations are being processed. At other times, you'll have space to complete records, check supplies, or help prepare the facility for what's next.

You'll work alongside Aquatic Team Leads, the Supervisor, lifeguards, and other Community Services employees while assisting members of the public throughout your shift. This position does not supervise employees.

Because this is an aquatic facility, you'll regularly work around humidity, water, and typical pool chemicals. The role includes light physical work involving items up to 25 lbs. You may occasionally help move heavier items over 50 lbs. with assistance.

Safety is part of everyone's job at the Town of Olds. You'll follow established health and safety procedures, report hazards or unsafe conditions, and help maintain a safe environment for guests and coworkers.

What success looks like

You'll know you're succeeding when guests receive clear and helpful service, registrations and transactions are completed accurately, records are kept up to date, and you contribute to an organized and safe Aquatic Centre.

Hours and pay

Your schedule may include:

  • Morning shifts beginning at 8:00 a.m.
  • Evenings
  • Weekends
  • Possible split shifts

The wage for this position is $20.83 per hour.
