The Opportunity

TruGreen Metal is looking for a skilled and detail orientated Accounting Technician to join our Finance team at our head office in Olds, AB. This role is full-time, on-site, with a Monday to Friday schedule.

This role will be primarily responsible for Accounts Receivable management, data entry, bank reconciliations, and supporting month-end processes.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to grow into an Accountant role and eventually pursue their CPA designation. We offer mentorship, hands-on experience, and exposure to increasingly complex accounting tasks over time.

 

Key Responsibilities

•Oversee and maintain accurate Accounts Receivable (AR) records.

•Process customer invoices, monitor aging, and follow up on outstanding accounts.

•Perform daily data entry of financial transactions into the accounting system.

•Prepare and complete monthly bank reconciliations.

•Assist with month-end close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.

•Support the Financial Controller with general ledger maintenance.

•Help prepare financial reports and statements as needed.

•Assist with audit preparation and other ad hoc accounting projects.

•Continuously seek opportunities to improve processes and controls.

 

Qualifications & Experience

•Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

•Minimum of 3 years in an accounts receivable or a general accounting role is required.

•Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, NetSuite, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.

•Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

•Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

•Interest in obtaining CPA designation (or already pursuing).

•Take pride and accountability in your work.

•Willingness to learn and develop new skills and advance their career.

•Excellent communicator who works best in a team environment.

•Ability to adapt to change.

•Use problem solving skills while using good judgement.
