About the Role
The Town of Didsbury is currently accepting applications for a term, part-time Family Resource Specialist with our Mountain View Family Resource Network (MVFRN).
Reporting to the MVFRN Program Supervisor, this position provides direct support to families, children, youth and young adults (19-24) that focuses on promoting healthy development and well-being, and caregiver capacity. This challenging opportunity is best suited for those who have the skills and energy to connect with children, youth and families; are highly charismatic; and are willing to create an inclusive, trusting and caring atmosphere. This position requires travel to Cremona, Carstairs, Didsbury, Olds, and Sundre.
PRIMARY DUTIES WILL INCLUDE:
• Family Support: Plan, coordinate, and facilitate evidence-informed, inclusive, and trauma-informed programs and one-onone services that strengthen caregiver capacity, promote child and youth development, and support family well-being
• Family Navigation and Referral Services: Conduct intake and needs assessments, connect children, youth, and families with appropriate community resources, and support in navigating services and accessing needed supports
• Community Partnerships: Foster collaborative relationships with community to strengthen coordinated service delivery and respond to emerging community needs throughout Mountain View County
• Coordinate Programs and Ensure Quality: Support program planning, evaluation, and reporting while ensuring services align with Family Resource Network Standards of Practice and organizational policies
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
• Post-secondary education in Social Work, Social Services or a related Human Service field: equivalent education and experience will be considered
• Experience supporting children, youth and families, with knowledge of child and adolescent development, family systems, attachment, grief and loss, positive parenting and trauma-informed practice • Experience in group facilitation
• Current First Aid and CPR certificate
• Valid driving licence, a vehicle, and able to provide a driving abstract
• Clean Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Check and Intervention Record Check
Desired
• Relevant experience working with families and/or youth and community agencies
• Knowledge of Positive Youth Development
• Knowledge of Connect Parenting, Triple P, Positive Parenting Program, Developmental Screening
Hours of work: Up to 27 hours Monday to Friday, some evening and weekends required
Term end date: March 31, 2028
