About the Role

Part-time shift work - 16-31 hours per week - weekdays, evenings, and Saturdays

 

Accredited Supports to the Community (ASC) is seeking a professional and experienced individual to provide supports in our group-based programs: FUNTIMES - supporting children and youth with developmental disabilities, and GROUP Matters - supporting adults with developmental disabilities.

Under the direction of the Program Coordinator for the FUNTIMES and the GROUP Matters programs, you will guide and participate in engaging activities and community access with children, youth, and adults with developmental disabilities. As part of the ASC team, you will be provided with mandatory internal training and opportunities to build knowledge, skills and abilities for participants in programming.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Establishing a positive and professional rapport with the group participants
  • Assisting group participants by supporting and encouraging involvement in outings and community activities
  • Participate in planning of weekly activities and skill development activities
  • Supporting individuals with developmental goals
  • Participation in team meetings

The Choice Candidate will:

  • Have or be willing to obtain First Aid/CPR within the first 3 months of employment
  • Have the flexibility to work scheduled shifts
  • A reliable vehicle, class 5 driver’s license is a requirement to transport clients within the community and for program events. ASC has specialized drivers and provides the opportunity for those interested to be a Class 4 Driver
  • Proof of vehicle insurance showing $2 million liability coverage
  • Vulnerable Sector Check issued by the RCMP or City Police
  • Clear Child Intervention Records Check
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to learn proficient and respectful documentation, computer literacy
  • Human Services and/or medical training is an asset
