Operator 1 - Public Works

In this role, you’ll contribute to the day-to-day services residents rely on, from helping maintain roads and sidewalks to supporting snow and ice control, signage, and seasonal Public Works activities. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys practical work, takes pride in doing a job well, and wants to build experience in a team-oriented municipal environment.

What You’ll Do

•Assist with maintenance of roads, sidewalks, pathways, trails, alleys, and related infrastructure.

•Support snow and ice control operations during the winter season.

•Help install and maintain signs, barricades, and other operational safety devices.

•Assist with cemetery operations and seasonal grounds-related work.

•Operate light equipment, municipal vehicles, and hand tools once trained.

•Support cleanup, maintenance, and other Public Works activities as needed.

•Complete routine equipment checks and report maintenance concerns.

•Contribute to a safe, respectful, and reliable work environment.

•Participate in a rotational stand-by/on-call schedule, as required.

What We’re Looking For

This is a truly entry-level opportunity. We’re looking for someone who is dependable, safety-focused, and ready to learn.

•High school diploma or equivalent.

•Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s Licence.

•Class 3 Driver’s Licence with Air Brake Endorsement is an asset.

•Previous experience in construction, labour, landscaping, farming, or equipment operation is an asset, but not required.

•Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.

•Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, shoveling, walking, bending, and prolonged standing.

•Willingness to learn equipment, tools, procedures, and safe work practices.

•First Aid/CPR certification is an asset.

•Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to work well with others.
