About the Role
This position is best suited for those who are self-motivated, organized, and committed to working with a service team in a culture of collaboration and wellness. You will enthusiastically assist by ensuring individuals have adequate and necessary supports while focusing on skill development, independence, community outings, and engage in activities supporting their interests as well as their well-being. This role also guides and mentors independent living skills, provides companionship, supports behavioral challenges, provides personal care, and implements programs tailored to individual(s) needs. Great relationship building skills and practicing vigilance with health and safety is a must.
Hours of work (32 - 50 hrs per week) are based on the needs of the individual(s) ASC supports; therefore, shifts may vary. The successful candidate will have the flexibility to work a rotation of days, evenings, and weekends. With the possibility of covering the occasional awake night shift (wage differential provided), or sleep shift (sleep hours are min. wage).
Education and Requirements:
Grade 12, GED, or proven experience
ASC provides internal/external mandatory trainings and professional development
A minimum of 1 year work experience with developmental disabilities will be considered an asset
Human Services and/or medical training is an asset
Standard First Aid/CPR Certification or willing to obtain in first 3 months of employment
A reliable vehicle, class 5 driver’s license is a requirement to transport clients within the community and to appointments
Proof of vehicle insurance showing $2 million liability coverage
Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records Check issued by the RCMP or City Police
Strong oral and writing communication skills
Ability to learn proficient and respectful documentation using computer platforms

Entry level starts at $19.26/hr with immediate on the job training
2-year Diploma and/or 3 years’ experience start at $20.33/hr
